Oil Production Down 6 Percent In Cameroon
5th JAN 2007
Cameroon's oil production fell by 6.1 percent to 23.9mn barrels in 2006 from 30mn barrels in 2005, sources close to the TOTAL Exploration Company, said Wednesday.
In 2005, the sources said the country earned more than 790bn CFA francs ($1.59bn) from oil, with 380.775bn CFA francs ($765mn) paid into the national Treasury.
For the first nine months of 2006, oil revenue was estimated at 777.3bn CFA francs ($1.56bn), including 425.9bn CFA francs ($855mn) paid into the Treasury.
Cameroon's oil refining company, SONARA, attributed this increase in revenue to the high price of oil on the world market in 2006.
