NEPAD To Mark Fifth Anniversary In Abuja

The New Partnership for Africa Development (NEPAD) is to mark its fifth anniversary in Abuja, the official News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported yesterday. As part of the commemoration activities, a top-level Multi Stakeholder Dialogues will be held, NAN quoted NEPAD Chief Executive Officer Firmino Mucavele as saying.

"The meeting in Abuja will provide an opportunity to increase the engagement of various stakeholders and groups," Mucavele said, adding that the event was aimed at developing a comprehensive holistic policy framework for African development supported by detailed indicative plans for all key socio-economic sectors. He said NEPAD members are now being encouraged to embrace dialogues and strong leadership to achieve the NEPAD objective. The organization established in 2001 is designed to address the current challenges facing the African continent.
