Globacom Launch Blackberry in Nigeria with Support of Alcatel

Alcatel and Globacom, Nigeria's second national operator confirmed the successful commercial launch of BlackBerry® services in Nigeria. In the framework of a contract signed with Globacom, Alcatel provides the end-to-end integration of the BlackBerry® wireless solution from Research In Motion (RIM) within its Glo Mobile network. Globacom was the first to offer BlackBerry® to corporate customers in Nigeria.

Under the terms of the contract, and based on Alcatel's distribution agreement with RIM*, Alcatel's Managed Communications Services enables Globacom to meet market demand with value-added, differentiated services, without compromising the revenue base provided by basic services. Globacom corporate customers will enjoy the freedom of innovative services such as BlackBerry® for mobile e-mail, with the flexibility to stay connected to work and life whenever they wish.

 Alcatel's Intelligent Network (IN) solution and Messaging Suite have already enabled Globacom customer's access to enhanced mobile voice and data services, making Globacom the first Nigerian operator to offer 2.5G high-speed data rates and Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS).
