Acer Targets Nigeria As Key Growth Market
23rd June 2008 Acer, the world’s third largest PC vendor and the region’s leading notebook provider, has reinforced its commitment to strengthening its channel business model across the continent. This has become pertinent as Nigeria’s IT market plays a key role in Acer’s African expansion strategy, acknowledged a senior executive of the company. During a visit to Lagos, Acer executives highlighted the role its channel partners play in making its technology and products available to customers across the country. According to the Deputy Managing Director, Acer Middle East and Africa, Krishna Murthy, Nigeria’s IT sector is growing steadily and with the help of its strong channel partners, Acer intends to tap into this dynamic market and facilitating their growth is instrumental to our continued success. At the gathering, Acer executives updated their distributors and partners on new products and Acer’s strategy for the year. Channel partners applauded the new reward schemes and annual loyalty programme introduced this year. Since it was founded in 1976, Acer has focused on marketing its brand-name IT products around the globe. It ranks as the world’s number three vendor for total PCs and number two for notebooks, with the fastest growth among the top-five players. A profitable and sustainable channel business model is instrumental to Acer’s continued growth while the successful mergers of Gateway and Packard Bell complete the company’s global footprint by strengthening its presence in the U.S. and enhancing its strong position in Europe.
