Celtel Set To Roll Out 3G Network

Mobile telecommunications operator, Celtel Nigeria Limited, said it is set to roll out its third generation network popularly known as 3G.
The Head of New Technology Development, Celtel at the company, Mr. Tunji Alabi, who said this in Abuja on Tuesday at the trial inauguration of the 3G network, said all that remained for the roll out was approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission. The trial of the network is expected to last till February 2007.
To be able to try the new variant of 3G network, known as High Speed Downlink Packet Access, Celtel’s vendors – Ericsson Nigeria Limited and Huawei Technologies Limited – secured two frequencies from NCC for three months renewable after that time frame.
