Market capitalisation at the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Tuesday went down to 11.5 trillion naira from the previous day's transactions of 11.6 trillion naira. Similarly, the all-share index recorded a dip from Monday figure of 60,122.77 t o 59,663.22 points at the end of Tuesday's trading on the NSE floor. The banking sub-sector led on the activity chart, measured in turnover volume with 397.6 million shares valued at 8.94 billion naira in 8,574 deals. Firstinland Bank Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc and Fidelity Bank Plc shares boosted the activity in the sub-sector. Insurance sub-sector followed on the activity chart with 165.34 million shares worth 695.4 million naira traded in 3,274 deals.
The shares of Universal Insurance Plc, AIICO Insurance Plc and Goldlink Insurance Plc were the most traded in the sub-sector which boosted the activity there. Conglomerates sub-sector came third on the activity chart with 17.9 million shares valued at 134 million naira. Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc, UNILEVER Nigeria Plc and United African Company of Nigeria Plc were the most traded stocks in the sub-sector. Total Nigeria Plc led on the gainers' table with N10.75 to close at N239.95, Flourmill Nigeria Plc followed with N3.32 to close at N89.34 and Nigerian Bottling Company Plc also closed at N61.00, gaining N2.58 in the process. On the losers' side, Nestle Nigeria Plc led with a loss of N8.00 to close at N21 8.00, Conoil Plc followed with a loss of N5.76 to close at N127.75 and Ecobank Transnational Incorporated closed with N246.00, loosing N3.40. In all, investors staked a total of 12.2 billion naira on 689.9 million shares traded in 17,963 deals. |
