NNPC, Group Holds Workshop On Pipeline Vandalism
6th Feb 2007
Worried by the spate of pipelines vandalism being experienced in the country and the attendant losses to the economy, the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation has scheduled to hold a workshop seminar for Nigerian journalists on the carnage.
The seminar is being organised by the Group Public Affairs Department of the corporation in conjunction with Mount Spiral Nigeria Limited.
The event will also coincide with the public presentation of “Nigeria Sweet Crude,” a book written by two Nigerian journalists.
According to the organisers, in a statement on Friday, “This year’s seminar and workshop would examine the reporting of the increasing spate of petroleum pipeline vandalism and the impact of militancy on crude oil exploration and production in the country.”
The Minister of Energy, Dr. Edmund Daukoru, is expected as the special guest of honour while former President, Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists and Managing Director, Platform Petroleum, Mr. Austin Avuru, would review the book.
