Following last year’s quashing of the monopoly of airing English Premiership matches, the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) and host of other local television stations in the country will as August 11, 2007 begin live telecast of the English Premiership League.
This disclosure was made at the weekend by the Chief Executive Officer of OSMI, Rotimi Don Pedro at the occasion to sign agreement with the NTA, Radio Nigeria and the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) held in Lagos.
Rotimi Don Pedro noted that, good times are coming for football in Nigeria when the people will watch good football in their homes. "Very soon Nigerians will begin to watch football from any part of the world.
"When we do this well, the next generation of Nigerian youth will be able to import Nigerian league to the foreign audience."
The OSMI boss disclosed that under new agreement, a total of 38 live Premiership games over 38-week season will be telecast live to Nigerians through the local stations. This will be made up of one game per week every Saturdays at 5.15p.m and Monday evening at 8p.m.
"Out of the 38 games, 25 will be played on Saturday and 13 on Monday. The Monday telecast will include highlights of games played at the weekend. |
