The Appeal Court sitting in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, has nullified the election of Senator Liyel Imoke of the Peoples Democratic Party, as governor of the state.

In its ruling on Monday on the petitions brought against Imoke by the All Nigeria Peoples Party and the Progressive Parties Alliance, the court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct a fresh governorship election in the state within 90 days.

The court also ordered the immediate swearing-in of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Francis Adah, as Acting Governor of the state in the interim.
