Ecobank Opens Gambian Subsidiary

In line with its dual mission of strategic expansion as well as pilot the economic and financial integration of the Africa continent, the Ecobank Group has opened its 20th subsidiary in the Gambia.

In a statement, Albert Essien, Ecobank Regional Director, says with this development, the Ecobank Group will be positioned as the clear leader in regional banking in Africa. In his words the bank is "particularly pleased with the prospect of running a subsidiary in Gambia as aside from Mauritania, it amounts to it having full coverage of West Africa.

Commenting on this latest addition to the Ecobank Group, the Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Arnold Ekpe, said "it signals further our commitment to bring Ecobank to the citizens of our target countries". According to Mr. Ekpe while opening up the Group to meet the challenges of globalization, Ecobank remains committed to its African roots and to Africa’s development.
